One thing off the bucket list

Had to give the pickle-corndog a go. It was pretty good. Lots of flavors going on in the mouth for sure. Though I had some good mustard at the ready I found the tartness of the pickle was plenty. This pared well with the sweetness of the cornbread batter and the meat was really just there. I tried using some smoked sausages too but the pickles weren't large enough so I just battered them. Smoked sausages don't seem to do as good as an emulsified sausage though. The do work but tend to burst more easily - or noticeably.
Anyhow, this is now off my bucket list.

Wow. Well now that right there is a thing. Execution looks spot on, really nice fit of dog to pickle, and the batter is holding really tight. Well done...but not for me!

Thanks. Definitely a gimmick type food but I had to try it. I like pickles but this is something for someone who loves pickles because the pickle overpowers the meat. Just something different and definitely was fun making.

....And so American! Perfect carnival food! Definitely would love to bite into one, but making the darned things looks quite labour intensive!
