(gasp!) It's Ross "The Ripper"!
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably needs more time on the grill! :D

Sticky Chat II

Post by Chuckwagon » Wed Dec 21, 2011 08:27

Very often, a post collects quite a bit of off-topic info and even chit-chat or "chatter". When this happens, a moderator splits the conversation, leaving the original topic in place, yet splitting off the chatter to a more suitable forum such as Hyde Park. It may be put in an existing topic or even a completely new one with a new name. At one time, we had a topic in the Hyde Park forum called "sticky-chat". It was sort of a catch-all for split-off chatter from other posts. It was also a great place to post general chit-chat. I`ve resurrected the old topic here.

Best Wishes,
Chuckwagon

Long term health care insurance for your car

Post by ssorllih » Thu Dec 22, 2011 23:37

I just got a solisitation for selling maintainance insurance for my car. It is an 87 volvo with almost 300,000 miles on it. I want life insurance for it. Then when it dies I can replace it.

Ross,
Just get a horse! You don't have to buy gasoline and it will mow your lawn at night.
Shucks ol' pard, he'll even fertilize your flowers for you! Now that's eco-friendly!

Naw, I'm my horse's doctor but not a "horse doctor".

Ross could also hitch the horse to his Volvo when the engine dies or the transmission goes out.
Win-win situation, no more need for a mechanic then.

Ross,
Just tell them to go an jump. I have seen this crap before and if you have a claim they try and find any way of getting out of paying. That's just the short version, all insurance companies are the same. I can elaborate but won't.
Stick to your serviceman you know well.
Regards,
Jan.

Yeah, and my horse has 300,000 miles on him and he isn't even fully broke-in yet! He's got a long way to go! I don't even have to change his oil and he never pops a fan belt or has a flat tire! Just a little water in his radiator and he's good to go. Once in a while I do detect a little exhaust though.

I be danged iffn I know how you dreged this thread up but for making broth I have a story for you. Three maybe four years ago I was the designated turkey roaster for a family get together. I had the turkey but didn't have enough stock to make the amount of gravy we would need.
On my way home from a house repair job and kinda a little worse lookin for the wear, I stopped at a supermarket for a half dozen turkey wings to cook to make additional stock.
Now I don't wear my nice clothes for some jobs and this was one that could well have sent the coat to the dump but it didn't. Anyway I made my way to the check out and this pretty young clerk asked if that was what I was having for thanksgiving. I assured her that I was just getting them for stock but she wasn't sure and I had to tell her again that I wouldn't go hungry for thanksgiving day. She still had her doubts until I laid a fifty dollar bill in her hand.

"Sigh" I love bolonga but if I made that much I would either have to give it away or freeze it. I enjoy so much variety in my food that I freeze roasts in one or two pound portions and chicken legs just two in a package. I split whole chickens and get three meals from one half.
That bolonga looks perfect. I bet stuffed into small casing it would be grand as hot dogs.
