Silly questions

Chuckwagon has said that there are no silly questions and before yesterday I always agreed with him on the score.

BUT yesterday on a different forum a member asked concerning the use of cherry wood for smoking meat, "How long will a load of cherry wood last"?

He didn't specify the size of the load or even suggest the rate at which he would use it.
I think that his question was very poorly phrased at best. And I answered that if he kept it out of the weather and no one burned it, it would last for more than a hundred years.

Maybe it's one of those Zen unansweraable questions, like
  • What is the sound of one hand clapping?
or
  • If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?
or the ever-popular feminist version, inserting
  • ...and a woman is not around, is the man still wrong?
...great Zen response, Ross. (...sound of one hand clapping.)

Hey Ross! Give the guy a break. I know the answer! I know the answer! The guy asked:
"How long will a load of cherry wood last"?
Hmmmmm... Twice as long as half!
