ON This past Saturday Nancy and I passed the ownership of our sailboat to new stewards. With proper care she should last for another fifty years. So now I am land locked and not terribly thrilled about the prospect.

Ross cherish the memories but forget about giving up the sailboat - life goes on and the most important thing is not to use the time you had for sailing by sitting on the sofa watching TV and regretting being a land lubber. They say you can`t teach old dogs new tricks but that is a myth - look at my age and I just started the sausage making hobby last year but then my wife insists that mid-seventies isn`t old and I think she is right. Best regards to you and Nancy.

That's got to be hard but you have more time for sausage and stuff.

We hadn't sailed since this time last year so my life isn't going to abruptly change now that the ownership has changed. It just marks the end of an era.

I would think sailing would be hard work but I'm sure shore leave would make it worth it.

Years ago I got some leave in Charleston SC. I'll always remember one particular night. Later I was walking down the street and Admiral James Stockdale stopped and offered me a lift. When I saw his rank I didn't know whether to wet my pants or run. Did neither and met one of the finest men I've ever met.

Somehow I think salty air forges stronger memories.

Hey Ross,

Let somebody else do the work/maintenance, you just enjoy the ride.
Happy sailing.

I can't roll that way. I was repairing marlinespike work an hour before they cast off.
