Well, if you don't start somewhere, you'll never get started. So, I ordered the inkbird temp and humidity controllers, got a tiny dehumidifier and fabricobbled up an ultrasonic mist humidifier. I think total cost is around $90 because I had the other stuff lying about. However, like I was told here, once ya get all the stuff inside the fridge...there's not much room for any meat!

Im finding the same thing out as you, bigger is better

I have a small wine cooler, only 3 lengths of Salami and its nearly full, ok for now i guess but i have already started looking on Craigslist again, good luck with yours.

Yikes! You need a bigger fridge. Go on a hunt for an all fridge or upright freezer that are the true frost free type. That is, there has to be a fan that blows in the cold air when the compressor starts. Larger units work better because they allow for better air movement.

Well, one good thing, everything I've got here is transferrable to the next fridge. My folks have a dorm fridge that is about twice the height of this one, so I may be able to make that one work. I'm getting some pretty crazy humidity swings, which I don't quite understand. I think my problem is lack of consistent air circulation in the chamber. That's an easy fix, I've got lots of computer fans to play with.

Should be fun playing around to get it to work.

I am checking craigslist for a cheap fridge tho.

It is difficult to regulate humidity because of the small space. When the humidifier kicks on it will overshoot in a short time, well before the sensor on the regulator tells it to shut down. you need the air volume to dissipate the moisture.

Yep. That's what I settled on too. So, I've found a freezer not too far from me on Craigslist for $85. Just need a way to get it from there to here.

Just make sure its a frost free. The regular ones have the cooling coils integrated into the shelves and they can't be moved/removed.

Then check with Redzed on how (not) to drill holes.
