Ive seen that many use a 24-26 mm sheep casing. Id rather use hog casings, I can get hog casings that are listed as up to 28 mm and some that are 29 mm to 32mm. Id like a bigger dog but dont want it ridiculous. What are your thoughts, experiences

Remember that the volume of a cylinder varies as to the square of the diameter so a 29 mm casing is 46 % larger than a 24mm casing. The size of the casings are chosen by the number of pieces they want per pound.

For those that use Butcher-Packer for casings.

What exactly is the difference between the Casing for Frankfurters, Viennas (24/26mm) @ $60.50 and Casing for Snacks, Hot Dogs (24/26mm) @ $44.67???

Both sheep, both the same size, I don't get the big price difference. I emailed them this question, but they never answered.

If you guys don't mind skinless I would consider these http://www.alliedkenco.com/casing-cellulose-28mm.aspx

You can smoke an cook them just like a natural casing and they peel off easily.

Works for me
