I am looking for a good hog ring pliers does anyone have a suggestion of a good pair?

Check out sausagemaker.com. They have everything for backyard guys to commercial businesses. Some kits come with them included. Good luck.

Most meat processing supply sites that deal with sausagemaking will have them. Also check out Allied Kenco out of Houston, TX, Butcher & Packer Supply out of Detroit, MI, and LEM Products (online and from the list of retailers on their site). You can also check with farm co-op and supply stores, and big box hunting and sports stores like Cabela's, Gander Mountain, and Bass Pro Shops.

Those are places where to get them. As for a brand? Only a few manufacturers make them, and most of the retail suppliers use the same ones. Some rebrand and some don't. Look for a sturdy pair that holds the rings securely. Fortunately, they are inexpensive, and if your pair aren't as sturdy as you'd like, you can easily replace them without having to dig deep into your pockets.

We always used the "Burdizzo" to seal our packages.

If you lived around the Chesapeake Bay every hardware store you went into would have them because hog rings are used for making crab traps and steamed crab is the official food of Maryland.

I assume you are using it for sealing larger collagen casings, try plastic cable clips - they are available in many sizes, can be pulled very tight, do not deteriorate and, what's more, they are cheap !
