Two new sausage smokers with us today! Welcome aboard Patrad in Chicago and Tomrad in Milwaukeee. Nice to have you with us boys! Are you brothers in two different cities? And....isn`t it about time for some, "Thrilling Tumbleweed Trivia" - particularly, peculiar, poppycock you probably just couldn`t live without!

Everyone`s seen a famous person on a horse in your city park. Did you know if a statue in the park of a person on a horse has both front legs in the air, the person died in battle?
If the horse has one front leg in the air, the person died because of wounds received in battle.
If the horse has all four legs on the ground, the person died of natural causes.
(Yeah, sure... and if a horse has all four legs in the air, the person died because it was just "Ol' Sparky's" time to choke and he rolled over on the rider!)

They sterilize the pear with alcohol.

The pear grew inside the bottle. The bottles are placed over pear buds when they are small, and are wired in place on the tree. The bottle is left in place for the entire growing season. When the pears are ripe, they are snipped off at the stems.
Okay... the three words are dwarf, dwell and dwindle.

Well folks, we've got a new member here on WD! Welcome aboard Uncle Tom in Warsaw, Poland. I've got a question for you Uncle Tom. Did you ever leave your house without your cell phone, (which you didn't even have the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life), and turned around in a panic to go and get it? If so, you may have gotten up in the morning and actually have gone "on line" before getting your morning coffee. Yup, we live in a modern world. But I`m going to draw the line at tilting my head sideways to smile : )

What an awesome forum. Have been reading the main Wedliny Domowe site for a while now and finally discovered the forum today and just have to be part of it

I live outside a small town in Gippsland, Victoria, Australia, where we have 13 acres on which we run a few steers, lambs and a small herd of free range Large Black pigs. We keep a few piglets out of each litter for our own use and sell the rest when weaned to help pay the feed bill. We have started making our own ham, bacon and sausages, and are looking forward to trying salami and smoked Polish sausages for the first time this year

Welcome to this great forum. Where are you situated in Gippsland?, we have some members probably close to you.
I like your idea about making salamis, NOW is the time for your area.
Just search the forum for some great recipes, some of the salami experts on the forum live in Melbourne region and will part with their knowledge if asked or pick the brains of a local Italian. Please DO NOT forget to use Cure #2.
