Rebuilding the Herd

Post by sawhorseray » Fri Nov 29, 2013 19:57

My hunting-fishing-golf partner of over 35 years e-mailed me Wednesday morning to tell me one of the sawhorses I made them for Xmas about thirty years back had come up lame due to a confrontation with a pick-up truck. He uses the sawhorses regularly to keep amplifiers and music equipment off the ground when the valley fiddlers get together for their weekly jam session. I was going to be heading over to see him in a couple of weeks armed with this years Xmas presents, wild hog sausage and smoked pork loin. I got the materials needed that afternoon and pounded out a fresh set of steeds for him on Thanksgiving morning.

It was like ridin' a bike, tho the bike doesn't go as fast as it used to. Boy howdy, a half inch sheet of plywood sure seems a lot heavier than it used be too! RAY

My first union job after receiving my journeyman's certificate was for a housing contractor sheathing post on girder under-pinning with inch and one eighth plywood, tossed the sheets around like a deck of cards. My my how time takes it's toll on our body, especially those of us who worked construction. I can't complain too much, I invested pretty well, haven't worked for seven years, most likely won't die of starvation. Getting old stinks, but it beats the living crap out of not getting any older. Wull... uhh... where's the stirrups, pilgrim?
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably needs more time on the grill! :D

Indians didn't seem to need stirrups, they did just fine on a horse. RAY

Yeah, but that's just because they held on to the steering wheel so tightly!
