Wild geese
Post
by ssorllih » Thu Feb 02, 2012 05:04
For all of you on the Atlantic flyway this is the time to start watching the wild geese. My observations have shown them starting their migration around the time of the full moon closest to the vernal equinox. The geese are already starting to gang up in large flocks in the grain fields. One morning within the next six weeks they will all head out within a day or two. One day there will be flocks of several hundred on the ground and the next they are gone. If you rise early and are outside you will hear them before you see them, often up near ten thousand feet.

You ought to see the dock at the marina. Not a place to walk bare foot at night.

Shucks you big sissies, come an walk through my corral - that's a tip-toe through the tulips!

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it probably needs more time on the grill!

We used to play tag at night barefoot in the pasture. sometimes in the fall it was kinda nice to step in a warm one when your feet were cold.

Yeah, but just don't try to catch them with your teeth like my dog does. They could be hard on the dentures and you could "chip" a tooth!
