A few posts after midnight and then a couple more around mid day. it would seem that everyone is well fed and taking a well earned break from their grinders. But Saint Patrick's Day approaches and at this posting only two pieces are being corned and only one brisket. The local Shoprite® is selling cabbage for seven cents per pound in hope that you will buy something else but it isn't required.
The weather has been unusually warm and windy. My Magnolia is starting to bloom almost a month early. I planted a short row peas and a small of patch of salad greens.
Started work on the boat to get it ready for launch as soon as they get the seawall repaired from the damage by last year's storms and floods.
it has been a quiet day in Aqua Saline Metropolis
Ross- tightwad home cook
Ross, sounds like you are living the American dream.
Yes, it is is unusually warm on the left coast, as well. I dare say it is spring here, except that we really only have 2 seasons. The sage is coming back with a vengeance. The tarragon I had cut to the ground is doing likewise. The Italian parsley wintered over and making seed now. Last weekend I started seven dozen plants for the garden, mostly tomatoes and peppers (seeds from the Mediterranean) and a few Hawaiian onions. Next week I will have a small garden 'till'd ... 35 x 50. The peas and salad greens will go in after that.
A big part of my garden will be tomatoes, which I will can. I am now looking at meat grinders that double as tomato squeezers. Unfortunately, the only ones I can find are made in Europe. Its just a motor! It goes around and around and a round. It can grind meat, juice automates, shred cheese, whatever! But Noooooooooo. We are supposed to buy a separate motor for each appliance.
Wasteful. Hobart makes such a machine for commercial kitchens ... basically a motor and then you buy the attachments you need for the task at hand. The original Hobart stand mixer for home kitchens was like that, too ... it was called Kitchenaid. Those days are gone.
Boats are a whole 'nother topic. Looked at the cost of keeping mine on the hard deck while I was abroad vs her actual value. I let her go. But I also (correctly) thought the US economy would be in the toilet when I returned. It was ... it is. These days (used) boats are cheap.

A No. 32 grinder with a vee pulley and a quarter hp motor will do all that you said.
Just reading that makes me want to jump out of my skin. There is no way I will get around a hand-feed grinder that is hooked up to a motor and pulley. I know they are for sell, seen them online. That is just a huge accident waiting to happen.
