Many years ago I heard Steve Jobs interviewed. He said as technology becomes more complex it will become increasingly necessary for the user interface to that technology to become more simplified. As an example, the ideal computer will have only one button and do everything you want it to do. I'm still waiting for that computer, and if Apple makes it I will buy my first Apple computer.

I got my wife a Motorola Xoom tablet for Christmas and she (we) love it. We used to keep a laptop in the living room to surf the internet. But now, the tablet is our internet surfer. It's an Android-based system and I was still able to install a print app to allow me to print to our network printer at home.

I just got her the WiFi version and not the 3G version. Works great when connected to our home network.

We recently got a Sylvania tablet. If only it had a USB port and we could connect a keyboard. The "virtual" touchscreen keyboard takes forever to use, even with a stylus. Without a decent keyboard, the thing is little more than a toy.

I'm extremely frugal!
I refuse to pay more that $50 for a computer, and that's only when I've gotten $50 for the last one I had! LOL

The machine I'm currently on is a Dell Dimension 2350 with just 1 GB of RAM that's 9 years old, but it's blazingly fast!!! Why? Because I run a small Linux distro, TinyCore, completely in RAM, so it can't help but be fast. That's something that isn't possible with Windows or Mac.

There are several Linux distros that'll run completely in RAM.
Most have a option when booting from a CD or pen drive to load the entire operating system into RAM.
Even when installed to the hard drive, they're very fast because they're not bloated with a bunch of junk like Windows and Mac.
